Beautiful Lake view, Must visit in Munnar

We reached this place by 10 am on weekday and there was very less crowd. Lake created by the dam gives beautiful view. Would rate this place as must visit in Munnar considering there aren't any other place worth visiting. You can enjoy boat/speed boat/jet ski ride. Parking might be a problem if you a re visiting via your own vehicle. Plan to reach early and try to visit on weekday.

Worthy but crowded and poorly maintained...
Too busy on the weekend. Lot of merchants and hard to find parking. We asked a local taxi driver about family boating arrangements near and they directed us to another place by continuing on the same hwy (on the other side of the lake) by KTDC. That place was a lot peaceful and enjoyable for family visit/boating/park and other kids activities. Though I'd you want to shop/buy cute/touristy stuff and haggle with merchants, you have to stop near the dam. It's certainly a good experience.

    Mattupetty Dam
Mattupetty Dam (Madupetty Dam), near Munnar in Idukki District is situated on the "Munnar-Topstation" mountain highway route. It , is a storage concrete gravity dam built in the mountains to conserve water for hydroelectricity and It has been a vital source of power yielding along with other such dams. The large amount of perennially available water in the large lake formed by the dam allows wild animals and birds to flourish. Boating activities for tourists are available on this lake reservoir.
