Knai Bang Chatt, Kep Province, Cambodia

Kep is for seafood

Knai Bang Chatt, is a fantastic hotel that was once 3 separate homes. One was the home of the French Governor of the area, the second was the cousin of the King of Cambodia and the third was the home for a high Government official. The present owner purchased the 3 properties and turned it into a Fantastic Hotel. The road journey from Phnom Phen was an experience by it's self, on Highway number 3, it should be called TRACK #3, 4 hours for 150 kms. But the journey was worth it. Kep is a great little place and the accommodation was great. Great staff, great position, clean, huge balcony overlooking the Gulf of Siam. The Sailing club next door has amazing food with fantastic staff and really lay back. Well worth eating there, in fact we did many times. The two main reasons we went to Kep was 1) The Crab and seafood 2) Kampot Pepper (brought 2 kilos home)

    Good location
We enjoyed our stay, but I feel that a lot of attention to detail is missing. However, the interaction with the staff at the restaurant was great. The food was excellent and the location is perfect, right next to the Sailing Club.

A very average boring place, very overpriced and under managed.
Average boring place, very overpriced and under managed. The most boring place I stayed in Kep, and the most expensive. The restaurant I ate in ( the Sailing Club) was awful, see review. My room was nice but the bed creaked every time I moved which was very annoying. WiFi was not available in the evening till I called reception. As a person who wakes up early I was disappointed to find out there was no wifi again at 5am. Poor service from a place which charges so much. On Sunday they don't even have a happy hour, they are so cheap that they only run it till Thursday. This to me is the sign of a badly managed greedy team. You can find better place (and cheaper) all along the beach. Very disappointing experience.
