Kuala Koh National Park, Kelantan, Malaysia

Lovely nature experience with the family!

We went there as soon as we knew that the place is back in operation again when we called the National Park. The road to get to the National Park was not that bad and the drive was quite pleasant even though we're driving a sedan but the road is quite small and rural. It was a time well spent with my family and we get to experience nature with a boat ride, jungle trekking and a canopy walk. But unfortunately some parts of the place is still under maintenance due to the flood so the chalet and the bridge is still not operating yet so you'll have to take a boat to get to the other side. There is also not much option on the cafe menu and the prayer room was poorly maintained. However, it was a lovely experience and the place is a must visit for nature lovers. You can ask the guide to take you on an easier jungle trekking trail if you're going there with your family. Just be sure to make a call first before you go so they can provide you with a guide on the day of your visit.

    Bird watching
Went with friends to do birding. We managed to see a great variety of birds. Some of our friends were delighted with the pristine rivers which offer some excellent sport fishing. The whole park offers superb opportunities for photographers as the diverse flora and fauna in the park providing perfect settings, colours and contrasts. We too engaged in river based activities as kayaks, bamboo rafts and inflatables can be hired. We also went hiking as there are many jungle trails of varying distances and degree of difficulty to choose from.

    Kuala Koh closed for maintenance
After visiting Taman Negara through Kuala Tahan we wanted to go to Kuala Koh to visit Taman Negara but without the crowds. From Tahan we drove with our rental car in about 4 1/2 hrs to Koh. The road is easy accessable and signposted. But....the north entrance is closed for about a year due to maintenance! Too bad that there was no sign in English before we entered the acccess road! So please check the status before heading this way!
