Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Gallery, Kedah, Malaysia

4.5 (12 reviews) Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #9 in Kota Setar District Speciality Museums

a must visit attraction if you are in Alor Setar

this gallery is located in the city center of Alor Setar and closed to other attractions such as Zahir Mosque, Balai Nobat, Balai Besar and Royal Museum. It exhibits various personal collection of the reigning Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah such as clothing, awards, photos and vehicles. My favorite section is the vehicles collection. The admission is free but sadly, photography is not allowed. Some of the items on display are showing the sign of ageing and definitely in need of proper maintenance from the management. Nevertheless, this gallery is a very good attraction and considered as a "must visit" if you are in Alor Setar.

    So many things to see!
The museum is located alongside all the other main historical attractions like the Balai Nobat, art gallery, istana and mosque. It's pretty large and shoes must be removed to enter this museum. There's no entrance fee, just a visitor log that you need to sign before going into and leaving the venue. So many interesting things to see in relation to the royals - our favourites are the vehicles, clothes, graduation robes and of course, the weapons! The place is clean and well-maintained. The lighting however is pretty dimmed. The place closed at around 5pm so be there early to see everything!

    Very well-maintained gallery
I really enjoyed visiting this gallery. It gives you a sneek peak into the life of Royals. There are many personal collections of the Sultan. I like the old passport in particular.
