An interesting but confusing war experience.

Hi guys, I spend a few hours walking around the Jeath war museum in Kanchanaburi some time ago. It is both good and bad, there are lots of exhibits but its all mixed together, no linear route around the museum, no guides, no books. It is just one big ended walk around. One item of interest is one of the original bridges across the river which is preserved. There are items from different times and conflicts. I cant remember how much it was to get in but it was pretty cheap, so if you have some time it is worth a look. I have some very interesting videos on youtube from Kanchanaburi including the famous bridge and this museum, please click on my profile and follow the link to my youtube channel.

    Rundown
It’s such a shame that this museum is so run down and requires major investment to highlight the plight of all the prisoners of war who were forced to build the railway to Burma. We were taken around by our tour guide who explained how life was in the camps. There are photo (some in frames, others falling out of frames) showing how awful life was for the prisoners. There were some strange drawings too. We were told not to take photos, I’m sure this was not because the photos/pictures could be damaged but so we don’t show anyone how in need of finance this museum is. If it wasn’t on the tour, I would have been disappointed to pay an entrance fee.

    Bizarre, in a bad way!
More like someone's collection of random items. Guns, gemstones/geodes, motorcycles, murals of Thai prime minister's and miss Thailand's from 1930's - 1990s, clocks, t-shirts, random markets stalls selling items. This is a really confused, disorganised and chaotic 'museum' in quite serious disrepair. I don't understand what they do with the money they charge for entry, but it certainly isn't for maintenance or upkeep. Information is really sparse, and when you find it it's vague. That said, if you're bored with nothing to do it's a way to waste some time.
