Hossa National Park, Kainuu, Finland

4.5 (33 reviews) Spent More than 3 hours Ranking #4 in Kainuu National Parks

Beautiful hike

We followed the hakokosken hujaus trail. It was clearly marked with yellow dots every other tree so very easy to follow. The path was easy too apart from a couple of steep parts that were doable with just a little effort. We saw a woodpecker, reindeer and beautiful lake views. It was a 5km hike that was very enjoyable

    Hossa National Park
Hossa National Park is not just a place to walk and see the lovely landscapes, there´s also a nice place to stay to eat and drink something. If You are not so lucky with the weather You can also check some of the animals and the lovely sightseeing in the Hossa National Park Exhibition.

    Shades of green
We passed through and stopped to do one of the well marked hikes. Ours was a yellow trail Color and took about 1h 40 for the 5.5km of up and down and around two lakes. Very scenic park. Extremely quiet - we met only two groups on fatbikes over the whole walk. Hosea only became national park in 2017. The visitor centre is super modern. In some ways this park was my favourite due to it being so empty of any other tourists. Strange: almost total silence in the park, we hardly heard any birds. So quiet you could hear the blood rushing through your ears! Highly recommended.
