Royal Portrait Museum, Jeollabuk-do, South Korea

4.0 (92 reviews) Spent Ranking #8 in Jeonju Speciality Museums

Interested in History. It's must-go. 한국인이라면 꼭 가봐야 하는 곳.

The portrait shows exactly the same figure 1:1 to each king, even a hair on the face. So you can see how they look if you visit there. It's inside of the Kyoungkijeon so you have to buy the ticket, 3,000 won for entrance.

An insight into Korean royal history.
Not knowing anything about the history of the Royal emperors in Korea it was interesting to see a reproductions of the only portrait of King Taejo, the ruler of the Joseon dynasty housed in the Royal Portrait shrine which is within the Gyeonggijeon Shrine of Jeonju. The admission fee to the Shrine area is only 3000Won so it is worth visiting this historic site originally built in 1410 and rebuilt in 1640 with various shrines, guardhouses and cultural relics.

Portraits of the past kings and emperors
Here you will find originals and replicates of the portraits of the past kings and emperors of Korea, along with some history of their lives. Most of it are just brief descriptions. It would be better if there are more exhibits about lives of these kings and emperors.
