Must visit for Volcano Lava and Nature lovers

This site is also known as the Manjanggul Lava Tube which is one of 7 tubes in the Geomunoreum Lava Tube System and is a World Natural Heritage Site. This is a unique cave in that lava had flowed through it to form this cave. Lights within the cave illuminate its natural features and beauty. Other than a short flight of stairs down to the cave, it is mostly a flat uneven path. Hiking shoes are recommended. The section of the tube open to the public is about 1km long and can be completed in about an hour.

    An Unique Experience
From Jeju city, we drove our rental eastwards for a good 30 plus km distance before turning into a hugh car park in front of the Manjanggul Cave. There is a small museum where you could get some information about the Manjanggul Cave and how it was formed. After paying the entrance fee of 3000 won for an adult, you then descend a long flight of steps into the cave. You need a good pair of walking shoes to walk the 1 km length of the cave that is opened to the public as the cave floor is uneven and slippery. Added to this, the lighting inside the cave is kept dim, so it would be wise to bring a torchlight. It was a unique experience to visit the Manjaanggul Cave. However, I would caution that for seniors, to walk the entire cave is challenging.

No need to go to Iceland to visit a lava tube - unique
One of the highlights of visiting Jeju is to see a lava tube ! Great to walk in 1km to see how lava carved out a large natural cavern . The place is well maintained with appropriate signboards signposting all the relevant lava features along the route . Dimly lighted to ensure it is authentic without it being overly dangerous when dark . Nice place to visit and a go to site when you are in Jeju .
