A remnant of a glorious Venetian time

This is a nice remnant of a Venetian past. The late-Renaissance clock tower is located on the main town square in Rovinj. Apparently it once represented the tower on the south corner of the former town walls. The town clock features the distinguishing Venetian lion. It's just one of a number of interesting features in the centre of this lovely old town.

    Terracotta Tower Clock.
Another focal point in this square alongside the drinking-fountain opposite (- both of which can be spied on the live-cam What'sUp website.) I think it's amazing this pleasant but not out-standing building is still standing - centuries later. What a testament to the architect. It blends in perfectly with the similar Venetian style buildings and is decorated with the Venetian lion symbol (?as shared with the proud Scots!) Hope it's there for many years to come.
