Rovinj Aquarium (Ruder Boskovic Institute), Istria, Croatia

small but sweet
OK so its little but it only costs about £2.50 to get in. There are probably about 15 or so tanks in there with a nice collection of local fish and sea creatures. Well labelled and presented, if you take your time and look closely there is more to see than you might initially expect. Spent about an hour in here and loved the fact it was native species.

Nice display of the Adriatic sealife and fauna
A short but informative introduction of the animal sealife of the Adriatic. I do believe we payed 30 kuna a ticket. A bit steap for some aquariums in two rooms might be some peoples judgement. Still an experience worth your while I think.

It’s well worth a real look
As others have said, it’s not Monterey Bay aquarium. But if you slow down you’ll see some magical things. I was lucky to watch as a seahorse—three inches or so of her—decided to leave the branch her tail was wrapped around and motor to the next thing on her agenda. It was like watching a cartoon for a moment—she blew water with bubbles out her ears and glided to the next branch. That alone made the aquarium worth the visit.
