    Stunning views and fascinating site
This place has to be seen to be believed. The amount of masonry still standing after 3500-4000 years is amazing. The views from the top are the best I've seen in all Istria, a combination of the stunning sea view and the Brijuni islands and the land view of the lush Istrian countryside. The wonderful site speaks of a sophisticated civilisation living thousands of years ago in this gorgeous region. Pula's stunning arena seems a baby in comparison to this place, at half the age. It is difficult to find, I suggest you drive to the village of Kokuletovica, you will see a sign post to Monkodonja opposite a restaurant (incidentally, they do lovely desserts, don't remember the name to give a proper review). We parked here and walked up, about 1km, however you can also drive up, though if you have a rental car with a high insurance excess I suggest only going half way - when you get to a sign which says it's 600m away park up and walk the rest. It's rocky terrain and not suitable for the very young or those with mobility issues. Take a bottle of water, there's nothing up there! We were alone for most of our visit, a rare treat in the modern world to be far from anyone else.

    1800 - 1200 BC
Kind of a cool and random little set of ruins, apparently dating back to 1800 - 1200 BC! Placards around the site offer more information, and the views from atop the hill are lovely. It can be windy (at least in February) and a bit chilly, so be sure to wear layers. You can park pretty much onsite and just walk a tiny ways up the hill to the ruins.
