    Nicely maintained statue
Apparently, Joakim Rakovac was kind of a big deal back in the day (i.e., the early 20th century). After the Germans captured Istria during WWII, he urged Istrians to rise up against fascism. (There's more to the story, but Wikipedia explains it better). Anyway, nicely done, and maintained, statue in honor of Rakovac.

    Worth a look.
This is an extremely well-kept historical monument dedicated to the memory of Joakim Rakovac, who was the main organiser of the "People's Liberation Struggle" in Istria and one of the most important people in Croatian history. He was born on October 14, 1914 in Rakovci, about 10 kilometres from Porec. He protected Porec and Istria against fascism and was killed in a Nazi ambush on January 18, 1945 in the village of Korenici near the Lim Fjord. The Croatian people honour those who fought for independence and he was proclaimed a “People’s Hero” in 1952. The memorial can be seen in Joakim Rakovac Square, named after him.
