Xwejni Bay, Island of Gozo, Malta

4.5 (112 reviews) Spent Ranking #10 in Marsalforn Bodies of Water

This is just a lovely part of the world. I travel here many times every year

This review is based more on the area. I am a diver and travel here for 30 days of diving every year (Lucky me!!) This is an area where diving is easy so is often a check out dive. The views are stunning. Lots of locals swim around here as its quite sheltered. (Be careful of stinging jelly fish however) A couple of cafes nearby but the sort of shack on the road is ace for basics. I would highly recommend Gozo anyway but this area too is nice

    A nice relaxing place
Xwejni Bay, on the northern outskirt of Marsalforn, Gozo is a really relaxing place to visit for a day at the sea. There is no sandy beach but there is a pebble and flat rock shoreline and ladders for entering or exiting the water at several other places around the bay. There is the possibility to hire deck chairs and/or umbrella shades. Close by to the beach there is ample parking but it is heavily used by the diving trucks, The bay is one of the very popular areas for diving because of the easy access to the sea. Next to the car parking area there is a restaurant kiosk offering sit in or take away food, there is also local council provided portable toilets. The food at the kiosk is of good quality but the food can take a while to arrive if it is busy. The kiosk also sells alcoholic and soft drinks plus tea and coffee. Not far from the bay there are several good traditional restaurants offering all manner of fine dining and bar facilities. Fishing is popular around the shore of the salt pans, but care is advised as these salt pans are still in use so do keep the area tidy and clean. This is a good place for a family day out.

    Nice walk
There is a lovely walk you can do through the salt pans. You can either take the road and see them from above, or go literally along them. Just beware that you should not step on them, as some of them are still used.
