Interesting visit

This is a small site that will not take you more than 30 min to visit, but is quite interesting to see some of the carved designs on the walls.

A good attraction that gives and idea of prison life
This was built in the 1500s and was the main prison for Gozo. People were interred for years at a time and had hands/noses chopped off. The cells are about 6 feet wide by 8 feet long by about 10 feet high with a tiny window at the top to let light and air in. You can go into a couple of them and experience it albeit without having the door slammed shut. It still has graffiti on the walls from the inmates and the noise of a bird singing outside must have been horrible for them. The prison is well presented with lots of sign boards and information about it. We bought a ticket that would get us into several attractions far cheaper than the invidual price. So if you are thinking about visiting Gganjia too buy one of these tickets. Access for disabled visitors is not very good as you have to go up a short flight of stairs to get to the jail cell level. But if you can manage some stairs it is worth it as everything then is on one level. Well recommended

    Not really worth it.
For €5, we expected a lot more. The place was interesting but not really worth the cost for ten minutes of browsing. Most of the cells are roped off so you can't even get a proper look.
