Gorgeous bay and great food
We went to Mgarr ix-Xini via boat, it was a Monday yet there still was a good amount of boats already parked. We found a spot and loved the still water very clean. We then ate at the restaurant which I strongly recommend booking in advance as even on Monday at lunch it was packed (they also do not do dinner apparently). It is primarily a fish place. They have some meat dishes but this is a fish place. We had the calamari, mussels, baby prawns and a fish the waitress recommended but I can't quite remember the name of. All were great. The place is not fancy, it's very relaxed. Everyone wearing beach and boatwear. The price is a bit high but I guess they can do so as there is no real competition in the area. The staff was super nice and helpful. Strongly recommend!

Beautiful insland water body
I approached this beautiful inland water body inland via a winding path all the way from the ferry port at Mgarr. It's a relatively easy walk for anyone who is at least reasonably fit and the bay is a great place to sit and relax for a while before continuing. I don't know what the restaurant is like to be honest as it was closed when I visited - maybe they open later in the year. On an early spring day in late February the views really are gorgeous woth for me at least perfect walking weather.

Mgarr ix-Xini restaurant
If you want to eat very good fish (meat is not as good) and relax in a place overlooking a beautiful bay, this is the place for you. Don't be in a hurry, because it make take over two hours to get a simple two-course lunch, but it is worth it! I would just suggest to the owner to make sure he does not run out of bread :)
