Lovely ski resort with great terrain and views!
We loved our 2 days skiing here, conditions were great and the runs were well groomed. There are mostly blue runs but I also found that the blues were not as hard as in other places. We skied mid week so there were no lift lines. We had no trouble parking and the ski valet for $5 a night was well worth it since you do have to walk up a snow covered path up to the village from the parking lot. We ate lunch both days at the top of the Express lift. Delicious and not as expensive as in other resorts. Cubbies available for free in the main lodge, but there are lockers to purchase for the day. Staff could not have been nicer. This is a local mountain resort and the people who live and ski here are proud of this fact. We can’t wait to return. Distance from town to the resort is about 30 minutes.

    Hidden Gem
This is definitely a “Hidden Gem”. We were lucky enough to have some fresh snow and great weather for a quick 3 day ski trip. If you’re looking for a quiet resort without the touristy vibe and prices then Schweitzer is it. Lift tickets at window were $86 a day but if you can plan ahead and purchase on line thru Liftopia then $60 is the deal. This is definitely a locals mountain but it has incredible terrain with beautiful tree skiing, perfectly groomed intermediate and black runs with a separate area for beginners. There was never a lift line but then we did ski midweek. We very rarely encountered more than 2 or 3 people on the same run at the same time! Restaurants on hill are limited, skip the overpriced Nest located at the top and either go to the Outback or eat at the bottom lift area. Schweitzer Mountain Resort runs a shuttle service from the parking lot located just out of Sandpoint every 30 mins all day with ample parking. On hill parking is limited and we found this very easy to use. You can book lodging on hill or in Sandpoint but just keep in mind after the hill shuts down, there’s not a lot to do up there and restaurants are limited if you don’t have cooking facilities. We stayed in downtown Sandpoint and walked to a number of restaurants that were available.
