Trip overall was excellent. Loved the lake and the species than inhabit it. Will come back in the future.
The lake was awesome. I got to saw so many fishes and birds that inhabit the area. I love watching species interact with their environment, so this trip for me was a great success. I also got to eat many fishes, man they tasted good. Best fish I've had since I last went back to my mum's (which was 20 years ago). ANYWAYS, if you're all by yourself and your life is boring, I would greatly suggest you to visit DONGTING LAKE cuz CHINA NUMBER 1!

Beautiful freshwater lake, loded with ocean-going vessels
This is a relatively shallow lake. The lake is fed by four major, and some smaller rivers. Although it is considered a shallow lake, as can be seen from my attached photo, many ocean-going vessels travel on it. With a surface area of 2,820 square kilometre, which during flood season has expanded to seven times the size, it is among China’s three largest freshwater lakes. The flooding usually occurs when the Yangtze River waters rise, and some of its overflows end up in Dongting Lake. Dragon boat racing originated here and has spread throughout China and to many other countries around the world. I’ve participated in one in Canada, and have attended a couple.
