East Lake in the Eyes of a Wuhan Local
I am a native of Wuhan, and I often take some foreign guests to visit Wuhan. For me, East Lake is: If you like the natural scenery, East Lake is a good choice. Walking on the lakeside, weeping willow, lotus pond, stone bridge, landscape of lakes and mountains, too beautiful to be absorbed all at once. Occasionally you can see one or two wild ducks playing on the lake. When you are tired, you can take a rest on the stone bench by the side of the lake and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the sunset. In this situation, time will be very slow, and you will enjoy the nourishment of nature.

Spectacularly beautiful Cherry Blossom Festival
The East Lake area is one of China’s two best places for viewing cherry blossom. The blossom season is very short. A few days ago, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. We are in heavy and jammed at times, traffic on the way to the park. The park was overcrowded with people appreciating the magnificent beauty of the flowers. In the early spring air, we could smell the refreshing scent of the cherry blossoms.

Relaxing walk along the lake with plenty of tree shades
We visited Wuhan (one of the four furnace cities in China famous for intense Summer heat) in July. It's very hot everywhere in the city. We had to go out in the morning/night and stay indoor in the afternoon. We enjoyed a morning walk along Dong Hu Lv Dao in East Lake. I love their scenic views, lotus flowers, and cool breeze along the lake. They have nice pedestrian walkways along the lake. Plenty of tree shades and benches made it a very relaxing and enjoyable walk. The park is huge. If you don't want to walk, there are shuttles (not free) going around the park. The shuttle routes and transfer stations are a bit confusing. We had to ask for people's help. Luckily Wuhan people are very friendly, so we did not have any trouble finding our way at all.
