Ermei Lake, Hsinchu County, Taiwan

Emei
Nice little side trip out of Hsinchu. Emei lake was originally a reservoir but no longer serves that function and has been left to nature. The area is dominated by the giant Buddha statue. One of 4 such structures in Taiwan this one, at 72 meters, is the tallest. Nice walkway running alongside the lake. This place is small though, so take it slow. Just away from the lake there are plenty of tiny Hakka villages to be explored and to get shots of the Buddha from a distance. Nice place, worth a visit. 3.5 stars

Beautiful Lake, Lovely Scenery, But can get bored rather fast
As per my title, it is a BEAUTIFUL place, and you must visit the Emei Bridge, which is a modest little suspension bridge, next to the HUMONGOUS Buddha College. You cannot miss this Buddha College, which is probably the biggest in this part of the world. The suspension bridge offers a nice view, though it is not very long, and you would be saturated after a few minutes of Wow-ing and picture taking. Nonetheless, I did enjoy myself with the constant breeze and lovely serene feeling of looking at lakes, and the mountains in the far off distance. What's the name in Chinese, you say? It is called Ermei Lake / 峨嵋湖 (er-mei-hu)
