Wonderful Cruise on the Homosassa River
Just went on a 2 hour boat tour of the Homosassa River on the Nature Coast of Florida with 18 friends. $20 per person. The Captain was so helpful with our mobility impaired friend, gently helping her on/off the dock and boat. The narrator had many stories and nature facts throughout the cruise. The ride is slow and easy, just perfect for our "retirement age" ladies group. Between narration they played party music to sing and dance to. Afterwards we had dinner at the Seagrass Waterfront Resort, at the marina where we docked. Because we went on the cruise, we had a special discounted menu including "adult beverage" for $19 each. Food was great! The cruise runs Wednesdays through Sundays. You can rent the whole boat or just join a smaller group. This is perfect for families, couples, and friends who want a pleasant afternoon on the water but still able to hear yourselves talk. The crew and facilities (there's a real bathroom on board) were top-notch!

Great way to spend a couple hours and learn about the location.
We very much enjoyed the time spent with this lovely couple on the boat. It was a beautiful day the cruise was smooth and the boat was comfortable, The Captain was knowledgeable courteous and competent. The first mate / guide Janey was very knowledgeable and did a wonderful job describing the area and history. They were just a very nice couple and did a great job. Would recommend this 2 hour tour a great way to learn a little and see the area from a different perspective.

Perfect combo of nature tour and party boat!
Captain Joe and First Mate Janey helped our huge group of 19 friends and family celebrate my parents' 58th wedding anniversary in style! Everyone was comfortable and had a great time. We saw LOTS of manatees at the springs, and followed that with a cruise down the river to Bird Island, with stories about local history along the way. Joe and Janey have an unusually effective working rapport; they were respectful of the wildlife, and communicated with each other really well, so we had absolutely no fear that they'd hit a manatee. Janey's interpretive guiding was knowledgeable and entertaining. Joe played select tunes while we were cruising down the river -- this made for a fun atmosphere.
