    Relaxing Hidden Gem
We spent a very relaxing and enjoyable morning at this unique County Park. Contrary to another review here, it was not rundown at all. It was nicely maintained, and we saw plenty of fruit on the trees. We walked around on our own for a bit, but the highlight was the guided tour. There were only 2 of us, so our guide tooled us around in a golf cart, which was alot of fun. He was a very knowledgeable young man, and he made sure we got samples of all the available fruit. My favorite was the bananas - tiny and more flavorful than you get in the grocery store. We had never seen, let alone sampled, some of these exotic fruits before. I recommend lunch at the Mango Cafe adjacent to the park; it had several vegetarian options.

Take the free tour, and then walk
We visited the Fruit and Spice Park planning to take the 3PM tour. The admissions person gave us some samples of the fruit inside the park. We browsed for a while not far from the admissions area, and then joined the tour. Since it was a small group, we squeezed onto a small tour vehicle, rather than the very large one available. Our guide for the one hour tour was a women who had worked at the Park for ten years - she had great enthusiasm for her subject-matter. We proceeded around the park, stopping regularly to see specimen plants. Sometimes we got out of the vehicle, and tasted a bit of the plant leaf or fruit. You cannot do this on your own because some plants are poisonous. After the tour, we walked back through some of the areas we enjoyed. We stopped again at the large pond to visit one of the resident iguanas (Fred, about 4 feet long with beautiful color and decoration) who nods his head when he senses people approaching. The collections of different bamboos trees, and coconut trees, etc etc is amazing. This is the only park like this in the US. If you like plants or like cooking (fruits and spices), I recommend a visit.
