Qing History at a Glance

It was a lovely tour with a very learned tour guide. However the tourists were all over the place and a few "strays" came to join our group and listened to the tour guide. Those in my group who do not understand Mandarin took a back seat and walked quietly with the group. The museum is a must - see tourist spot, even without a tour-guide.

    A touch of Zen
    Compared to the garishness of typical Qing aesthetics elsewhere in the royal facilities, the Summer Resort is beautifully understated and reserved. The crowds are there, but the atmosphere somehow conduces one to a more meditative stroll, rather than a frantic rush from attraction to attraction.

    Nice!
    You can see a lot of nice antiques, calligraphy, pottery, furniture and displays about the emperors. The antique clocks was my favorite of the displays.
