AN ODDITY IN CHINA

Went to visit the Church it was all closed up only open for mass. Luckily for us while we were there the Bishop of Guiyang was also there he instructed an English speaking member of staff to show us around and give us the history of the church. The church is called St Josephs it was taken from the catholic church during the chinese revolution and used as a machine shop. Being handed back to the church authorities 20 year ago. It was refurbished and used again as a Catholic Church the Bishop of Guiyang is resident there. Its a beautiful church on the outside built by a french missionary in 1875 taking 2 years to build. The inside is also splendid as seen in photos.

    Beautiful church with interesting architecture
I saw this on Trip Advisor and thought it looked fascinating. Indeed, when we went to see the church, it was well worth it. Built by the French in the 1800's with elements of Chinese architecture, the church is definitely unique. Both sides of the building are different in their own way. You can also go inside for mass or visit. In the way the building is situated, it has its own alleyway, so it makes it more dramatic when you see the church for the first time as well. I would say this is a must visit if coming to Guiyang.
