I've been here twice and enjoyed the scenic views and the historical significance of the place. If you do not read Chinese, you should take along a friend or brush up on your history beforehand.

Location of a pretty decent battle in Chinese history between two major groups involving several thousand boats.
Yamenzhen - where a mighty battle took place 700 years ago between around 2000 boats on the river , a battle lost by the previously powerful Song Dynasty, the leader of whom was a child having been landed the top job through the death of his father . Practical upshot of this was that rather than be captured the remaining senior officials jumped to their doom in the river. The fort consisted of sets of gun emplacements on opposite sides of the river but at the end of the day they were overwhelmed by the invading forces. We went there after visiting a pretty large park and set of monuments erected in memory. As an attraction it was some distance from Jiangmen down a badly maintained four lane highway and not of the standard I've seen elsewhere - a long way to go even though located in a nice park.
