Foshan Zumiao Daoist temple
Originally constructed under Emperor Zhezong of the Song. He was the Emperor from 1085 to 1100, being from his age of 9 to his passing at the age of 23. Thus possibly, it was built at the wishes of his grandmother, who appointed official to run the empire for the young Emperor. We enjoyed viewing the architecture of the ancient structures, the Ip Man museum, a lion dance, and a kung fu performance.

Best place to visit in Foshan
Excellent place. Lots of history and culture to see and experience. Good show of the lion dance. It is located next to two malls with one being called Nova. So, it is in a pretty central area of Foshan. It is also next to a place where you can see lots of small shops and restaurants in and around narrow alleyways. This place is also worth a visit especially at night, so you may visit it after touring the ancestral temple. The entrance for the temple is also not that expensive. It is 20 RMB a person. You can pay by cash, WeChat, or AliPay. You may also be able to pay by card (maybe).

Ancient history in a modernising city
I visited along with colleagues and Students as part of a school trip. The Ancestral Temple comprises of a collection of several buildings within the temple walls. Some buildings include exhibits about local history and the development of the city. There is also exhibitions about Ip Man, and the development of Kung Fu. The highlight was the lion dances performance that take place regularly throughout the day. If you are visiting Foshan, this is definitely worthy of a visit.
