OCT East Shenzhen, Guangdong, China

4.0 (677 reviews) Spent More than 3 hours Ranking #11 in Shenzhen Amusement & Theme Parks

Swiss mountain village theme park

Famous "Swiss mountain" theme park and resort in Shenzhen. Even if you are not into theme parks, this one is not to be missed. Visually stunning, OCT East has been called the “Universal Studios of China” and offers rides, golf, magic shows, luxury hotels, restaurants, spas, and—believe it or not—a scenic Swiss village. Nobody does theme parks like China! Plan to spend most of your day here (though you could spend a week). Noted in Time Magazine 29 November 2007 (opened 7 November 2007).

Visit for more than a day if you can
Hi. I went here twice, on two separate holiday vacations to see my family in China. My family is very close by and my aunt/uncle drove us up a different entrance point so no traffic whatsoever, we reached the valley and down to the motorway in about 10minutes. I advise not going during the school half-terms, we went during Chinese new year... oops... Its a very nice place to go to, make sure you go on the train ride even if the wait is ages. Take lots of pictures, theres some stunning scenery especially if you choose to explore further out. Prepare for aching legs and extortionate prices for food. There is a KFC - where people squabble and fight over seats... Ps - the security guards might actually try and offer you entrance - in the form of invisible tickets and you pay the guards some money (huge discount) and they let you in via the gate instead of paying for real tickets and accessing the theme park through its real entrance. It is illegal so don't get caught out. My last visit was in February 2011.

OCT East/Tea Stream Valley/Interlaken is not for sophisticated tourist
OCT East/Tea Stream Valley/Interlaken is not for sophisticated tourist My family and I bought a 2 days package with OCT East Park ticket plus Interlaken Hotel stay. However, both were disappointing to our family. Let me say that our family (Mom, Dad & school age kids) had travel to many places of the world, so a bit of Christmas decoration and a bit of colourful costumes do not easily impress my kids. We speak English, Cantonese, Putonghua and French. First the good: the most worth while thing to do here in the Park would be watching the “Tea’ show performance at the OCT East theatre. It is 4 Ds, fresh idea in dance’s style, great stage and costume display, great music. Overall, a 5 star performance. Remember to exchange for seat tickets before show starts in the afternoon. Pedestrian Street area of the Park is good with local performer and magic show (free). We have been to other theme Park in China and in comparison this park is quite acceptably clean. Now the BAD: first, there are not many signs in English. Almost no written instruction in any language as to how to get to attractions. The Train ride was not worth the time spend on it. 40mins ride but waited up to 1.5 hours and is a very boring ride with no narrator to explain anything and nothing to see except construction sites around the park. The train compartment itself is very run down and uncomfortable comparing to Disney Hong Kong Park train ride. The Ancient Tea Town was O.K to look around but again no English explanations and no English signs. Our comment on the Interlaken OCT hotel is posted on the Hotel review. I can only say, if your family has been to Disneyland in the states and Ocean Park in Hong Kong and Santosa in Singapore then you really should safe your money because you will not enjoy the OCT East Park at all. Also most of the patrons here are from mainland and many of them have bad habits of jumping the queue and not bother to line up at all.
