Phander Lake is 4 hours drive from Gilgit. Located in a cup shaped area surrounded by mountains on all sides and overlooked by PTDC Motel, the crystal clear Phander Lake is fed through a link canal from Gilgit River. Depending on the time of the day, the lake changes its colour ranging from blue to deep green. The lake contains good sized trout but it is difficult to catch them as their is lot of algae near the banks and one needs to cast a long way to avoid under water vegetation. For those staying in PTDC Motel, lake is just a 5 minutes downhill walk. A jeepable track leads up to the lake and move along the lake banks up to Gilgit River. A walk along the lake side up to Gilgit River is a real pleasure. Views at sunrise and sunset are really fascinating but one has to be one opposite sides of the lake to enjoy the real effect.

    Heaven?
    Phander lake not much an attraction itself but the meadows on the way to Shandur pass. You haven't seen something that beautiful in your whole life. The landscape looks like it is taken directly from some video game.

    A beauty..
    Phander Lake is a beautiful lake located just next to PTDC Phander. The lake has crystal clear water with lot of algae near the banks. The lake is fed by the Gilgit River that flows through Phander Valley. The lake has beautiful sunrise and sunset scenes.
