Khalty Lake: A blue-water lake, right on Gilgit-Chitral Road
Khalti Lake is 136 kilometres from Gilgit, on the Gilgit-Chitral Road. It is right on the road side, and the views are beautiful. A few local restaurants have started forming up, but overall the area is not extremely overcrowded. It is peaceful and serene. One could possibly camp on the banks and could use one of the surrounding small hotels. The access road is metalled and level. Traffic in general is light and comfortable. One of the very good places to visit if you are in Gilgit-Baltistan area. Will take 4 to 5 hours to go from Gilgit, and will take a similar time to come back. So with some time to be spent on the lake itself, it is a full day activity,
