What a find! Don't miss it.
Came across this wonderful place on a wet Sunday with friends and discovered one of the most wonderful museums we have ever visited. Located in a historic house in the centre of this beautiful town we were greeted with a genuine friendly welcome and given a guide to what we can discover within this unique building. Not only does this museum have a wonderful to story to tell about the town, it's people and its connection with the Hansa network as well as the fishing industry but it also has an amazing calendar of arts and cultural events. Although at the time when we visited they were between exhibitions, it clearly attracts the very best and has given us reason to come back again soon. Although many towns in Holland close up on a Sunday, if you are looking for a wonderful cultural, enlightening and enjoyable place to go then this is it. We couldn't believe that entry was only one Euro per person. This has to be best value that one Euro could ever buy! Thank you Stadsmuseum!

Mixed
Old and new mixed. A bit of a mismatch. Some installations did not work ('defect') and most were outdated with technology from decades ago. Step it up please. The photo exhibition was the best plus the exhibit on the Belgian camp.

Hanseatic Harderijk
If one is looking at getting a historic perspective of Herderijk the Stadsmuseum is the place for you.Rather forebearing and somewhat stern as museums go, the only saving grace is the occasional special exhibition as the Photographic display we saw when we visited. There is a Tourist Information Office right next door which is helpful.
