Great wooodworking

This little place is the historical home to the best woodcarvers in Bulgaria and still many experts live here. This particular place shows of some of those skills with its gorgeous carved wood ceilings as well as lots of carved items all over the building. The ceilings are the highlight!!

A "must-see" if you ever visit Tryavna
Of course I am biased because I was born in Tryavna but every time I take friends with me there, I always make sure to take them to the Daskalov's house. The smell of the aged wood, the beauty of the carvings, the history and craftsmanship in it a really something you should experience.

Interesting museum, definitely worth a visit, but it's better to have someone who speaks both Bulgarian and English!
This inexpensive museum is worth a visit for the interesting display of local wood-carving and other crafts. A short introduction in English is available at the entrance, and while most of the displays are labelled in a kind of English, this is by no means universal.
