Volunteer.... its the way to go ...

Well in 2016 it was the first time for me to go to this event. I wanted to go with a friend but she couldn’t make it. When I checked out the website I realised they needed volunteers... I went there about 2 weeks before the event started helped with the build up and then I helped during the event. The time before and during the even were very different but I liked them both. Before was great as you really got to enjoy the beautiful island and worked together with a lovely group of people. During the event I managed to see 18 performances in 10 days. Its a real great event to go to . If you want to see this event on a budget then volunteering is definitely the way to go.

10 days festival with theatre, music, expeditions and much more
Oerol festival is one of a kind. The 10 days are filled with numerous theatre performances, street theatre, music bands, singer songwriters and much more. For €25 you have unlimited access to the 2 main stages and you can visit some 30 ‘expeditions’ (changing every year) which almost all are worth the visit. In addition you can book extra performances like music and theatre for mostly €14 each. You can go for a few days only or be here the whole 10 days of course. I usually book an extra (paid) performance like 7 out of the 10 days and for the rest of the time really enjoy just being at the island with all its hidden treasures. Please note; The paid (theatre) performances are mostly focussing on a Dutch-speaking audience. However pretty much all of the other experiences are well accessible for international visitors too as the signs and explanations are multilingual. The photo with this review is from the closure-event of the 2018 edition. (Photo with Lego-man is copyrighted of course)

Theatre, music, and thousands of lovely guests
Theatre, music, and thousands of lovely guests. Must-see when you're around in June. Having said that, if you come to the island for nature and quietness, please do NOT book in June...
