Ten Mile Creek Preserve, Florida, United States
4.5 (12 reviews) Spent Ranking #31 in Fort Pierce Nature & Wildlife Areas
Abundant wildlife, no people!
Great little spot for kayaking, always see several gators (both In and out of the water) in the warmer months. Many birds as well, with a bird rookery on the right fork of the river near the beginning. Start by paddling upstream (which can be moderately challenging after rain) then enjoying the ride (float) back. If you want to stop to eat or break out of the kayak, you'll have to find your own spot but they are around. Very private, we come here about once a month and we've never passed anyone on the river, just an occasional fisher from a bridge or bank.

Nice little park
This is a nice little park by the spillway with access for canoes. A trail winds through the trees along the bank. Nice canoe trip. Could not go terribly far as the water lilies had it chocked. Nice afternoon paddle though.

Great Kayaking
If you are looking for an out of the way area to kayak, then this may be just right for you. Easy paddling and plenty of birds to view. On a warm day expect to see an alligator or two. It is especially nice on a sunny day with a light breeze. Easy access to the creek as well. Expect to see very little boat traffic in mid week when we visited.
