A little theatre with a lot of heart

This hidden gem is St Lucie County's community theatre. Looking forward to seeing more of what they have to offer.

    Great little playhouse.
My wife and I attended for “In the Heat of the Night”. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We had never heard of Pineapple Playhouse and have lived in the area for years. It is small and quaint and that allows you to really feel connected to the performance. The actors did a great job and the night started off with the director addressing the audience before the play. Well done. We will be back.

    Do you love theater?
This is more in response to a "terrible" review than to the playhouse itself. Live theater, ALL live theater, is to be supported and reinforced. In Fort Pierce, Florida, there is an old, established Pineapple Playhouse. Unlike the reviewer who saw just one show there, I have seen several. When visiting my 92 year old mother, we go to a play. Some are not the greatest plays one has ever seen, some are excellent. I know what it takes to rehearse a show, get a set together, find volunteers and put a play up. I know what it feels like to set your soul on a stage and let hundreds of people and critics come in and judge it. I think community theater should be given a different critical eye than a Broadway show, and I think any theater, in the day of sitting in front of sitcoms and video games, is to be applauded. The Pineapple Playhouse is well worth your time and a couple of bucks. I've seen some very good work here and, whenever when I am the area, will continue to do so. Go! Enjoy a live play! It's inspiring and it's gratifying to see the hard work people put into keeping a great tradition going on and on. Forty years! Congratulations to them.
