Artisan Broom Shop in Rural Texas
Ron Cox makes artisanal brooms in a little shop in downtown Fort Davis. The brooms are beautiful, and the shop owner's stories are a delight. He makes the brooms right in front of you. He can custom make a broom and will ship it to your house, too. They cost $25 and up, expensive for a broom, but cheap for a functional piece of art. We compared how the handmade broom worked to a store broom, and saw that the handmade broom really is better at sweeping up dust. An adorable little shop, it's worth a visit if you want a great Americana souvenir or just to see how the handmade brooms are made.

Brushed Away
The shop is closed. It has been a couple of tough years for the broom maker. His wife passed away and then the broom maker could no longer afford the rent on the shop. I don't know where to get a handmade broom now, but that was never the point of visiting this shop. We'll all miss the great stories provided by the broom maker.

Clean Sweep
Looking for a hand-made decorative broom that is also durable and functional? Look no further. This little shop, with it's elderly owners are true artisans, working six days a week on these functional works of art from natural materials gleaned from the desert and mountains surrounding Fort Davis, Texas, is a little gem. Brooms,you say? You have to be kidding. Just stop and see.
