Great experience- went at 930am and there were plenty of 4 person boats still. staff was friendly and efficient at getting us checked in and out on the water. No maps (for us tourists!), but staff explained easily going up and coming back.

Kayak experience was good but customer service not so much.
2 stars because they had availability and no wait otherwise it would only be 1 star. 2 stars because service was terrible. My wife thought she left her phone in a kayak. I looked it up last night on "Find My Friends" and "Life360" and both showed the phone there at the rental place at 10pm. I called this morning right at 8am (when they opened) and talked to a guy and explained our situation. I told him we rented a double kayak with seatbacks (they only have a few of these specifically). He said, "Ok, well, no one has turned any phones in" and hung up the phone. My wife and I got in the car, drove over there and went straight to those specific kayaks and guess what, the phone was laying right there, in the exact spot I told the guy on the phone it would be. 2 stars for not giving me 3 minutes of his time to go look for my wife's phone and then call me back to let me know it was there.

Bad boat!
We rented a boat for a family trip around the Weeki Wachee river. What a mistake. The boat was old and almost unmanageable on the river. You can’t go fast because there are wake restrictions, but with traffic from other boats and wandering kayakers who were oblivious to anyone else it was a struggle to keep the boat in the channel where it needed to be. They should no be renting boats that are so ill fitted to the river. This was a waste of money and not really fun at all. It would be better to rent kayaks from the Kayak Shack. Or rent canoes. The people there are fun and the kayaks are better suited to the river.
