Beach is For Swimmers, Not Sun Bathers

A quieter, less crowded alternative to the busy Siesta Key, Turtle Beach is a favorite amongst locals. The sand here is gritty yet still comfortable underfoot, and the water stays shallow as far out as 50 feet. Do not disturb the turtle nests, and note that the beach has no lifeguards on duty. You can rent kayaks here, and fantastic kayak tours stop by as part of their itinerary. You can reach Turtle Beach by car or take the free trolley from Siesta Key that will drop you right at the entrance. Either way, be sure to stay for a magnificent sunset. – Tripadvisor

Beach is For Swimmers, Not Sun Bathers
Turtle Beach has dirty, gritty sand - not the sugary sand at Siesta Beach. For swimmers, it's worth it because a short walk into the water, you can swim nicely, much deeper and more wave action. I prefer Turtle Beach. It's quieter, more older people and better swimming.

A Unique Beach on Siesta Key
Turtle Beach is a scenic natural beach located on Siesta Key. Aptly named Turtle Beach it is a nesting site for turtles - as seen by the many blocked off areas of the beach for turtle eggs. The beach is deep with scenic natural foliage. The sand is a grainier, darker sand than other parts of Siesta Key. On the Monday morning we visited it was very quiet with just a few people around. We located a path away from the water, making for a nice leisurely walk, enjoying the beach scenery. Walking on the sand is difficult as it sinks in with each footfall. This a very nice beach area for quiet and place to enjoy the scenery and the teal blue Gulf of Mexico. There is a good parking area with a walkway to the beach. Just follow the signs for Turtle Beach. It is at the far end of the Island from the Village of Siesta Key.
