A Gem in Downtown Tampa!

Stopped in the Church for a beautiful Palm Sunday mass. I stopped in the Saturday Vigil. I am so happy I did. The interior of the church is magnificent and the acoustics is outstanding. The church is surrounded with beautiful stain glass windows and a terrific alter. It was a nice experience to have visiting Tampa. I also enjoyed reading about its history. The Spanish explorers of the 1500s brought Catholicism to the area. In 1859, a little frame church was erected on the site of the present Sacred Heart Church. It was blessed on Trinity Sunday and named St. Louis Parish. The first Catholic parish in the Tampa area. The parish and the Tampa area grew, thanks to Henry Plants railroad, which caused a need for a bigger church. Ground was broken for the new church on February 16, 1898. The new structure was dedicated on January 15, 1905, and its name and that of the parish became Sacred Heart.

    Loved it!
Beautiful Windows! This church immediately grabs you in by its classic European style then once inside, seems to transport you to the islands with its crisp white interior and richly patterned windows. It’s an excellent combination of the times it was built and the location. It was beautiful and peaceful and highly recommended.

Beautiful Catholic Church in downtown Tampa
My wife and I are Catholic, and I love to attend daily Mass. We were in town visiting and checked out downtown Tampa. We got to attend 12pm noon Mass here, and thought this was an absolutely beautiful church. It is still nice to attend Mass whilen on vacation, even on a week day. Beautiful architecture.
