Great stop for history fans
The Old Jail Museum is in a complex north of the colonial town that has a number of activites, tours and shops. The workers in the complex all dress up like they're from the 1800s and walk around acting their parts. For example, there was a convict in stripes looking gruff and angry walking around and grumbling about the unfair treatment, hangmans noose, etc. He totally stayed in character when I said "How can they just let the criminals walk the streets here." Then he followed us around a bit. It was really funny. We had only a few hours, so we did the Oldest Store Museum tour and it was so much fun. The gentleman guide was a salesman and he played up the part in really cute ways. Very interactive and fun tour - and so cool to see all the old contraptions!! We were sad to not have time to do everything and will 100% be back.

The Tour Guides are Amazing
Had the pleasure of having Bobalew as our tour guide and he really made this experience great. The tour guides are fantastic and awesome at making sure everyone enjoys the tour. He was able to take your mind off the more somber aspects of the jail and let you focus a bit on the history in a way that was lighthearted yet respectful of those who suffered there. It was fascinating to see how prisoners were treated back then.

Be Sure To See This One
We spent a day in St Augustine, and had a great time. And this was the best thing we saw. We did it as part of the Pkg #1 trolley tour, and it was definitely worth the additional cost. The jail itself is very interesting, and well preserved, but the best part of the tour is the guide who does the tour in character. Our guide, Ian, was absolutely great. We all really enjoyed this stop.
