Worth your Time.

Located in the heart of downtown St. Augustine, Lightner Museum occupies the historic Alcazar Hotel, a Gilded Age resort hotel built in 1888 by railroad magnate Henry Flagler. Founded in 1948, the Museum is home to one of the premier collections of 19th-and early 20th-century fine and decorative art in the country. Furnishings, paintings, leaded glass windows, cut and blown glass, and natural history specimens from the Otto Lightner Collection are exhibited against the backdrop of the magnificent Alcazar Hotel. Visitors to the Museum are invited to participate in an immersive experience of art, architecture, and design from America’s Gilded Age. We are open every day except for Christmas Eve (close at 1PM), Christmas day, and New Year's Day. Our hours are from 9AM-5PM with last entry precisely at 4PM.

    VERY INTERESTING MUSEUM
My wife and I visited this museum during our recent visit to St. Augustine. The history and many unique items make this a must-see museum if you are in the area. The entry fee isn't that much and you can take as much or as little time as you want to walk through the extensive museum and courtyard.

    Gilded Age Glory
This interesting collection of Gilded Age artifacts is a must see for aficionados of the period. The real star is the impressive architecture of the former Hotel Alcazar in which the museum is located. The building is also home to a former indoor swimming pool in which the Cafe Alcazar serves lunch from 11 to 3 each day. We arrived around 10 AM on a Friday & found parking in the public lot behind the museum. Take the time to download the parking app and you can bypass the street meter kiosk. (ParkStAug.com). The app also allows you to add time to the meter without returning to the kiosk. We were able to fully enjoy all the exhibits at a leisurely pace in about 2 hours.
