Shocking this is a Ritz Carlton - not possible to have a day at this spa with these facilities ke
I’ll start with the good - the actual treatment was excellent, so if you are staying at the hotel and you just want a massage, you will be good. Don’t arrive early, don’t plan to stay after and luxuriate. It’s not possible, no matter how hard you might try. If you are looking for a spa experience - relaxing spaces, amenities, pampering - this isn’t the place for you. This spa could not be further from that and for what treatments cost, there are so many other great options, if you have a car, use it to go somewhere else. Everything is run down - robes have pulls all over them, couches in treatment waiting room are all worn down and peeling. There literally was a basket with cleaning supplies sitting next to one of the couches. Couches were saggy and each “pod” had one small cube for putting your feet up (one of you, that is), Lockers are in a wide open hallway just outside the one and the only “spa” space which is basically like a large hotel lobby bathroom. Standing only at the lockers, there is nothing to sit on. There is only one ottoman in the bathroom area, so we literally sat on a bench looking at the shower curtain outside one of two showers on either side of the room. If you want to change in private, you need to go into one of two bathrooms. If you want to put on makeup or do your hair after your treatment, you have to stand at one of the two sinks and use a tiny/cheap hair dryer. We arrived two hours early, intending to lounge at the spa, to use the sauna and steam room and enjoy our treatments. Since there was no lounge, we were left with the sauna and steam room. Well, one out of two. . , The sauna was great - only big enough for two - one up, the other right below. But - good. From there, we cooled off on the shower bench then went into the steam room. Walked in, noticed the blue tape all over the plumbing handles and the smell of mold that was so strong - no rational person would use it and no responsible property would do anything other than put an out of service sign on the door. At that moment I remembered reading a review that mentioned the moldy smell, so it’s “a thing”. At that point, we were stunned and disappointed, literally nothing to do and nowhere to even relax. We looked to see if we could just sit outside and enjoy the great weather. Again - no. There is a small balcony overlooking the inlet, so if they wanted to - they could make it happen. Instead, there was just one chair only and the door locks behind you so you can’t go in and out. Even two simple lounge chairs would have been a HUGE upgrade. Simple. It’s really shocking that this is a Ritz Carlton. There were two of us, we each had a 90 minute treatment and our total bill was just under $800. The gap between what it cost and what we experienced was about as wide as I’ve ever experienced. I don’t mind the cost, but there needs to be a corresponding experience. There are so many amazing spas in Miami, even in Bal Harbour. If you want more than just a great treatment, you need to look elsewhere,
