Outstanding Food Tour

The highlight of my girls trip to Fort Lauderdale was this food tour! Instructions to the meeting place were clear, the tour started on time and our tour guide was outstanding. Our tour guide, Howie, was extremely personable and eager to make sure each participant enjoyed his/her experience. He was very knowledgeable about Fort Lauderdale information and had confirmed that all of his facts were verified. We visited five different restaurants beginning with a breakfast of Belgian waffles and tahini granola and continued to a Mexican restaurant, Argentinian restaurant, American restaurant where we had chicken sliders and fries and concluded with a dessert of donuts. Generous pours of alcoholic choices were offered at three of the locations. Howie also took several group photos and sent to the group afterward. Highly recommended!

    Don't eat before you go!
I go on food tours any time I'm in a new city if possible, so I've done many of these. The first thing I look for is the number of stops. This one has five in two hours, which is a decent number because it's enough so that you're able to try several different eateries, but not so many that you're running from place to place and don't have enough time to meet and talk with the others on the tour and with the guide. The next thing I look for is how far we travel. This is specifically a Las Olas tour, so you don't go far by design. Las Olas is a street known for its shops and restaurants frequented both by tourists and locals. Even though we only ate at five restaurants, we got to hear about the history of several others. Now the food. There was LOTS of it, and I should have paced myself (and not eaten breakfast). Our guide told us that the food offerings change, so I won't go into specific details about what we ate. However, it was not just a small sample or bite at each stop. I got a to-go box for the ending dessert. We took a little food break after the third stop to walk through the iconic Riverside Hotel, hear about the history of Fort Lauderdale, and see the water taxis and riverwalk. Our guide, Kristen, was high energy and personable. She answered our questions, and was willing to say "I don't know," which is always appreciated. One thing that was different than on other tours is that while we ate, she left is to ourselves. This wasn't necessarily good or bad, just different. While we walked, she was fully with us, and was attentive enough to slow down the walking speed for one of the tourists who had mobility issues. Overall, I enjoyed the history, the food, and the company. They have a Fort Lauderdale food tour asking the beach, which I will sign up for the next time I'm there. The price was worth the amount of food alone. I highly recommend it!

    So much fun!
Taylor was the best and kept everyone engaged. Best experience for the money. Taylor moved among the entire group answering questions and adding little nuggets of information about area or restaurant!
