Don't miss the musical Shrek
The Athens Theatre is a fully restored historic theatre. Once the centerpiece of DeLand, this red-bricked beauty is a jewel of Italian Renaissance architecture. This historic theatre was designed in 1921 by prominent Orlando architect Murray S. King and first opened its doors on January 6th, 1922. Above the stage's proscenium arch is an original 1920's Grecian frieze by artist Samuel Judson Stone. Each year the Athens Theatre presents six large theatrical productions by the Athens Theatre Company & Youth Academy, numerous concerts, community events, and gatherings.

Perfect Venue
We enjoyed the Seussical Jr. performance in January. We went particularly to see a friend’s daughter who portrayed Mrs. Mayor. The Athens Theater is a favorite small venue in our city of DeLand. Easy access and plenty of parking around. The quality of the shows we’ve seen there has always been excellent. I highly recommend making it a destination and also enjoying the many dining experiences close by.

Have been here about 20 times in the last 3 years for shows. LOVE IT
LOVE the shows, whether plays, school events, or concerts. We have seen The Long Run band at least 6 times there along with some doowop groups, some plays, and we LOVE the place. Great being able to support it. Always buy wine for the show and do the meet and greets with the bands after the show. Good prices to see good groups. I showed one month that we went, but we go at least 4-5 times a year.
