On County Rd 8, about 10 miles north of Florence and just off of the Natchez Trace, is a remarkable tribute to an amazing feat. Nothing big or flashy, just a low dry stone wall (ie no mortar) that runs for over a mile and was made by one man to honor his great, great grandmother's return home after being forced to travel the "Trail of Tears". Definitely worth the detour! The entrance is a private driveway so do not park there but rather across the road.See more..
