National Aviation Museum (Aviodrome), Flevoland Province, The Netherlands
4.5 (510 reviews) Monday: Spent Ranking #2 in Lelystad Speciality Museums
Fantastic museum!
A beautiful exhibition about the start of flying to flying into space. Lots of airplanes on display like a Lockheed Constellation or a Boeing 747 (outside). Many volunteers who worked at airlines can tell you lovely stories about the planes or the work they have done. It looks us around 3 hours to see the exhibition with a small break at the restaurant. For 7,50 euro you can get a day ticket for the parking across the museum.

Highway to the Aviodrome
This museum had been on my list for a long time, so I was very excited about finally getting to visit. We spent about 6 hours there, though less nerdy tourists might take less time! The indoor part of the museum takes us through the history of flight, with particular reference to Dutch aviation and plenty of real and replica aircraft. Outside, you can board a 747 and get close to a MiG-21, Antonov AN-2 and more. My favourites were the Saab Viggen and the Beechcraft Twin Beech, which was used in the James Bond film Octopussy. There's also a replica of the old Schiphol terminal building, full of curiosities like a display of KLM Delftware. The café has a choice of snacks, sandwiches and larger meals, and the gift shop has a good selection (though there's never a postcard of your favourite, is there?).

This museum is just amazing
We came to this museum all the way from Canada (one main reason we travel during this Uncertain Times). My (70 years old) husband loves airplanes and he was like a kid during the few hours in the museum. After we came back home and he plan to go again soon!!!!!! Don't have to say more how impressive this museum is!!
