Castle Stay at Ooidonkdreef

5. What a fantastic few days we spent at the castle as guests of Count Henry. Spend a few hours just wondering around the property and enjoy the surrounds. The rooms are a sight to behold as is the lounge area, we also sampled some of the regions food and wine and cooked one evening in the kitchen, what an experience that was. A must if you’re in the region.

Wonderful, beautiful moated castle at a sigh of Ghent.
You really have to visit this elegant castle which is the residence of of Count 't Kindt de Roodenbeke and lies in a bend of the river Leie. Please check the hours for the guided tours in this splendid castle which is considered as one of Belgium's finest castles. A mere stone's trow from Tearoom "Het Koetshuis" where you can eat or drink something after your visit. I really highly recommend it !

    Perfect afternoon!
The Castle of Ooidonk is an extreemly well kept 17th century castle not far from Ghent and Brugge. The exterior is a wonderful example of the Renaissance style not uncommon in Flandres with an atractive park . The interior is mostly 19th century with a few very good pieces of furniture. Do not overlook the 'mazarin' desk by Boulle in the round drawing room. It seems that it came from Vaux-le-Vicomte and belonged to Fouquet , Louis XIV unlucky finance minister. Entry is only in the company of an unusualy well informed guide and the tour takes about an hour after which you can relax in the cafe/restaurant near the entrance of the park. A very enjoyable afternoon!
