Disappointing
The AfricaMuseum is a centre for knowledge and resources on Africa, in particular Central Africa, in an historical, contemporary, and global context. The museum exhibits unique collections. It is a place of memory on the colonial past and strives to be a dynamic platform for exchanges and dialogues between cultures and generations.

Great but…
Mixed feelings. First time I revisit the museum after the transformation. I remember this museum to be the quintessence of Central Africa zoology, entomology, biology, geology, sociology, economy and so many other aspects. Now it feels like many aspects have been either removed or levelled down, seriously impairing the learning experience. On top of this, the great explanations you could read and the scientific approach that characterised these explanations have been replaced by comments so meaningless and poor that you feel quite frustrated. In short the intellectual, discovery-adventurous and scientific part is unfortunately gone, it’s much lower quality level than before. Yet still worth. But there should be some serous thoughts from the museum leadership about steering back up the experience.

Amazing building, messy exhibition
The museum have been totally renovated. The building have become very beautiful. However, the exhibition is totally old school. The have a lot of stuff from the old museum collected during colonial and they want everything still to be in the museum. They say they want to tell another story, but what story is very unclear. There is like a new story for every room you come to. Most of them are told very purely. Especially the colonial part. It does not help that the technique and earphones where you could get more information is working very purely. It could be a very important museum. Instead it is just average and old school.
