Excellent Family Afternoon Outing

We visited here last week whilst at Center Parcs De Vossemeren. Easy to get to and plenty of parking as it is in the centre of town near all the restaurants. The children loved watching the glass making and the people using the studio very kindly explained the process to the children (and us) and also let them do a bit of glass blowing themselves at the end. Fantastic!!

    From sand to art
From the origin of glass to the use of glass in (contemporary) architecture, you can see it all in Het Glazen Huis. Also, you can see glass blowers at work and there's an option to rent the studio. From the top of the glass tower, you can enjoy the view over the beautiful surroudings of Lommel. Back downstair, there's a beautiful museum shop.

Amazing blown glass works of art
This small museum doesn't have much on display, but the items on display are quite unique. All items are made out of glass and the creativity is extraordinary. Apparently you can watch glass being blown, but when I visited this was not happening. Best part was probably walking up the spiral staircase that takes you to the top of the glass structure, affording one a 360 degree view of the city and landscape. Entire visit took only about 25 minutes. Staff was courteous. Bathrooms and obligatory gift shop on-site. The museum is adjacent to / connects with the tourist office.
