Oldest bowling alley in the USA?
The Putnam Lanes bowling alley, at the top of a long staircase on the second floor, may be the oldest bowling alley, according to a researcher at the Fitchburg Historical Society. Or maybe the oldest candlepin bowling alley? Not sure. In any event, this is inexpensive family entertainment. I wish they'd made more of an effort to retain their historic charm, but it's cluttered appearance has its own charm.

Good enough for a little entertainment for kids
Great place for kids to and families. Small, only about 6 lanes but inexpensive. Staff was very courteous and willing to talk about the town's history. Cheap parking is available right across the street. Lovely town.

Always fun time
We always try to stop and bowl a few games of candlepin bowling when we visit our relatives in the area. We don't have this type bowling pins in New Jersey. It's always fun and not as easy as you think.
