Outstanding Museum

The museum is located in Borj Nord - a fortress overlooking Fez and a 5 min taxi drive from the Blue Gate. The fort is accessed down a road off the main road up from the town (There is a signpost). The fort it's self is magnificent - beautifully restored. There are a couple of cannon outside the fort. Inside the exhibits are laid out in a modern museum - clean, well lit and well laid out. Lots of examples of swords, muskets, armour and the like. There is no information displayed in English - but there is an English Audio Guide one can take. There are superb views of the city from the ramparts of the fort. Nice toilets, no food or drink to purchase. All in all well worth the effort to get here......

A museum
Musee des armes has a sizeable collection of a variety of military arms and weapons. It was established in the 1960s and it focuses on Moroccan history, obviously. The building is also known as Borj Nord, as it used to be a military fort in its earlier incarnation. Worth a look if you are in the area. We actually took a walk from the Medina and it did not take us very long to get there. We saw a few other interesting things on the way up as well.

Great views of the city
Climbed up to see the view and visit the fort. Still under renovation but the exhibition is good. Roof top restaurant and toilet not open. The thing that will make the trip unforgettable is the English language audio tape , a little like a Moroccan version of Hello hello. I'm sure they could have found a narrator with better language skills bit it wouldn't be quite so amusing!!
