Old Town of Cáceres, Extremadura, Spain

Well worth a wander in the old town.

Well worth a visit. We took a taxi in from our hotel and it dropped us right in the old town square. We walked around the old part which is very picturesque. We then chose to sit in the square at a local bar and enjoy drinks, snacks and then coffee. A bit of people watching is very relaxing and a very pretty setting. Unbeknown to us it turned out to be a local regional holiday so there was music and dancing on a stage set up in the square later that evening. Everyone was very friendly and we loved our time here.

GOOD WALKING AT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY
The city apparently ranks third in Europe for the amount of monumental structures. I an believe it. The historic center is very walkable with its ups and downs, narrow alleys and massive structures. It takes on a different feel at night. The usual collection of hotels, restaurants and souvenir places can readily be found. It is a city for ambling, stopping in here or there for any attraction of particular interest to you.

One of my Favorite Things to do in Caceres
I studied abroad in Caceres and fell in love with the old part of Caceres. I absolutely adore meandering through this area. It is like stepping back in time. Though I have visited the museums, this is not a big draw for me as I prefer the views of the storks and mountain. Contrary to some less favorable reviews, I prefer to visit when there are less people about. To anyone visiting Spain, I recommend you learn a little about culture as meal times and closures are very different than many other countries.
